Carl R. Broome, 81, of Dawsonville passed away Sunday June 16, 2013 at his residence following a period of declining health. Born March 19, 1932 in Chickamauga, Georgia to the late Marshall and Myrtle Broome, he had lived in Dawson County since 1996 having moved from Alpharetta.  Until his retirement, Mr. Broome worked in residential and commercial construction.  He was a U. S. Marine veteran of the Korean Conflict and was also preceded in death by his son, David Broome; grandson, Brian Farmer; brother, Frank Broome; and sisters, Thelma Gross and Joyce Johnson. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Mildred Broome, Dawsonville; daughters and son in law, Deloris Stanberry, Dawsonville, Carolyn and Dale Campbell, Dawsonville; brother, Oscar Broome, Orange City, TN; sisters, Lorine Titshaw, Trenton, GA, Viola Garris, Alpharetta, Linda Baker, Lawrenceville, Margaret Hawkins, Lafayett, Catherine Farris, Hoschton; grandchildren, Robert Brannon, Jennifer Ryder, Amanda Blanchard, Tammy Farmer; and ten great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held Wednesday June 19, 2013 at 11 o’clock at Greenlawn Cemetery in Roswell.  Rev. Gene Cobb will officiate. Nelle Childers, 77, of Dawsonville passed away Thursday June 13, 2013 at her residence following a period of declining health. Born June 30, 1935 to the late Ernest and Emma Duncan, Mrs. Childers was a lifelong resident of Dawson County.  Nelle retired from AT&T after 30 years of service after which she was employed by Wal-Mart for 15 years.  She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church and was also preceded in death by her husband, Frank D. Childers; son, Charles John Childers; sister, Ellen Elliott; and brothers, Ben Duncan, Charlie Duncan, and Frank Duncan. Surviving are her children, Nora and J. C. Jones, Dawsonville, Mark and Patricia Childers, Dawsonville, Emma Lora and Don Morris, Gainesville, Amy and Allen Garcia, Dawsonville; sisters, Lois Moss, Gainesville, Leah Holland, Oakwood; twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday June 17, 2013 at 11 o’clock at Harmony Baptist Church.  Rev. Billy Joe Monkus and Rev. C. B. Martin will officiate.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Doris Lucille Day, age 74, of Cumming passed away Saturday, June 15, 2013.  Doris was born June 27, 1938 in Cleburne County, Alabama to the late Richard Lee and Fannie Bell Callahan and was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. Survivors include her children, Rick and Debra Dowling and Michael Dowling, all of Cumming, Greg and Liz Landers of Dawsonville, Lorena and Eddie Kirkman of Gainesville and Doug and Lorrie Day of Cumming; 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Garry English and the Rev. Dennis Bottoms officiating.  Interment will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery in Roswell. The family will receive friends at Ingram Funeral Home on Monday and Tuesday, from 3 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, from 10 a.m. until the hour of service. Anna Hawkins, 16, of Dawsonville died on Monday, June 10, 2013. A Graveside Service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday at Mountain View Cemetery in Marietta. Survivors include her father and mother, James and Nancy Hawkins of Dawsonville; sister, Kati Hawkins of Dawsonville; grandparents, Lamar and Brenda Hawkins of Marietta; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; as well as many friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ralph and Edna Pettyjohn. Anna was Captain and MVP of the Varsity Soccer team at Dawson County High School. She was top of her class academically.
