Darlene Marie Daxenbichler Kraft, age 80, of Dahlonega, GA, passed away Friday, May 24, 2013.

Darlene was born and raised in Peoria, IL, spent a number of years in West Palm Beach, FL, and the last 35 years in Lumpkin County where she co-founded Forrest Hills Mountain Resort in 1978. She was an outstanding member of Kiwanis and was Kiwanian of the year in 2005. She was a wonderful mother, a poet, a saxophone player during the big band era, and had a quick wit about her. Ms. Kraft was of the Catholic Faith.

Darlene was the daughter of the late Felix and Irma Koeppel Daxenbichler, and was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Joanna Kraft.

She is survived by son, Stephen Kraft, Washington State; daughter, Denise Roberson, Dahlonega, GA; son, David Kraft, Dahlonega, GA; daughter, Michele Kraft-DeBlois, Dawsonville, GA; brothers, Bob and Melvin Daxenbichler, Peoria, IL; sister, Phyllis Jean Daxenbichler, Peoria, IL; and extended family, Frank and Joan Kraft, The Villages, FL. Five grandchildren and 1 great grandchild also survive.

A funeral mass for Darlene is scheduled for 11 AM Monday, May 27, 2013 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Dahlonega, GA.

Father Neil Dhabliwala will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 PM until 9 PM Sunday, May 26, 2013 at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega.

Sandra J. Mulkey, 61, of Dawsonville passed away Wednesday June 5, 2013 at Northside Forsyth Hospital following a short illness.

Born June 29, 1951 in Dekalb County to the late Alvin and Clara Mae Castleberry, she lived most of her life in Dawson County.  A homemaker at her death, Mrs. Mulkey was employed for many years as a quality control inspector for Panduit.  Sandra was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church and was also preceded in death by her grandsons, Austin Day and Ricky Hughes; sisters, Sybil Blackwell, Shirley Glass; and brothers, Kenneth Castleberry and Willard Castleberry.

Surviving are her husband of 44 years, Kenneth Mulkey, Dawsonville; children, Keith and DeAne Mulkey, Dawsonville, Kim and Scott Day, Dawsonville; grandchildren, Jordan Day, Nicole Mulkey, Philip Day, Mathew Hughes; brother and sister in law, Cletis and Veronia Castleberry, Dawsonville; and a number of other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Saturday June 8, 2013 at 3 o’clock at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church.  Rev. Jason Hamby, Rev. Steve Chadwick, Rev. Gary Keown, and Rev. Chris White will officiate.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends after 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
