Ball Ground man charged with burglary By CHARLES DUNCANDawson County sheriff's deputies have arrested a 38-year-old Ball Ground man in connection with a burglary at a residence inside Athens Boat Club. Authorities now believe that David Alan Wright may be connected to a series of related crimes in that neighborhood, sheriff's Sgt. Tony Wooten said. "The main break in this case came after Deputy Tiffany Bishop gave a description over the police band of the vehicle driven by Mr. Wright," Wooten said. "Deputy Mark Caruana located the vehicle driven by Mr. Wright. "Deputy Caruana charged Mr. Wright with driving under the influence, improper lane usage and also charged him with two counts of theft by taking, criminal damage to property, criminal trespass and one count of burglary," Wooten said. After Wright's arrest on a myriad of charges, other homeowners in the Athens Boat Club area also reported crimes that fit the same time line as the cases Wright had been charged with, according to sheriff's reports. Sheriff's Investigator Jimmi Smith began investigating those crimes in the Athens Boat Club area that included arson, two additional burglaries and criminal property damage, Wooten said. "Evidence in those cases have been sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime laboratory to determine if Mr. Wright is indeed responsible for those crimes as well," Wooten said. Wright remains in custody in the Dawson County Detention Center. His bail has been set at $25,166, jail records show. |
